It's been a long while since I posted last and I have so much to catch you up on.
First: Miss Wisconsin!
So back in March, I was hired to shoot the Miss Oshkosh pageant with The Backlott, LLC. A higher-up from the Miss WI pageant was there and liked the work we did and we were brought on to make a DVD of the pageant and create all the videos played during the show. It was long hard work for the crew but we can honestly say that it's gonna be the best video they've ever had of a Miss Wisconsin pageant.
Bark River went well with 3 days of racing. I started a new ongoing portrait gallery called, "Under The Helmet". It's a behind the scenes look at the driver's behind the trucks. I published this gallery under the "Lifestyle" tab in the photo section.
While editing the Crandon TORC photos and getting those out to drivers and PR people, I shot 3 days at Summerfest! I called some publicists and was able to get media passes for Dropkick Murphys and Jimmy Eat World. The day before DKM, I was contacted by FUN.('s) publisist (who I email months before about a pass) and was given the go ahead to shoot them. After messing around all day with Will Call and three attempts to get my pass, in the end I was on their list of approved people to shoot, but they never brought me down a pass so I could actually shoot. It was a giant waste of time and says a lot about FUN.('s) record label and publicist (BASTARDS). But since it was the same night as Dropkick, it wasn't a loss and I had a great time shooting their first 3 songs (which went by in under 7 mins).
A few days later, Lost In A Name played what would be their last gig
with guitarist Jake. It was a great show and we filmed their first 3
songs and took pics of the rest. I'm very pleased with the videos and
once things setting down here, I'm gonna cut a version of their set
together using just the GoPro footage so look out for that. Go the the link below to check out the new videos!
The last day of Summerfest was exciting since I was shooting one of my favorite bands ever, "Jimmy Eat World". I was lucky enough to get down in the pit early and shoot the entire set of the opening band, "Super Happy Fun Club" from Chicago. It was a great night and I met some very nice people from SHFC and some fellow Chivers.
And after all of that, I moved into a new place with my girlfriend (officially our first place together). It's been a week and we still have boxes everywhere! We'll get settled soon enough and hopefully enjoy our patio if the weather ever breaks.
Well, that's the recap of the past few weeks and things on the horizon are coming pretty quick. Tomorrow I head to Joliet, IL for a couple of rounds of TORC racing (featuring special guest: Travis Pastrana!) I'll add his portrait to the album for sure!
I hope things can stay consistent and keep the money coming in, I have RENT!
